What my life looks like lately.
so I have 2 sets of friends (That I always feature in this blog) the first set is Mico and Dave who always want to drink and party and go out and have a great night. while the 2nd set of friends are always down to do outdoor activities or stay in, play videogames and just chill. Polar opposites I tell you. What I realized is that I’m in the stage where I know who my real friends are and tend to hang out with the same set of people all the time. I like the diversity of my group of friends and I like that I get to choose who to hang out with depending on what I wanna do. lol. these people might appear more often in my blog.
1-3. chill night is a lie
I now know that “chill night” will never be possible as long as I am with Dave and Mico. I swear to god. these two. we originally planned a “chill night” as in few drinks, good food, hang out. and what happened? we ended up downing pitchers of cocktails and shooting jaggerbombs and partying at Haze and spotting Enrique Gil.
Couldn’t really complain. I should be used to it by now, idk why I’m even surprised. the night started out pretty chill though, we met up at Mercato and the agenda was for me to dish out the details of what really happened during this night. I haven’t really blogged about what happened. as much as I want to, I don’t know if I could come up with the right way to write about it without being too vague, overly romanticized or gaudy. If you’ve been following my blog posts, you know I have been anxiously anticipating for that night to happen because of one special reason. and let’s just say things went better than I expected.
4. endless team dinners at work. some of them, I dont really want to be a part of. it’s just that I dont really feel like hanging out a lot with people I work with (except for a few people I wanna be friends with). it just makes them hard to ignore. I’d really like to keep my work life and personal life separate.
but the team dinners. are endeless. recently we had an event at Fraser hotel makati, free food and overnight accommodation, and a lot more team dinners planned in the future. and I cant get out of it. in my point of view, I see these people at the office every single weekday, why the hell would I want to spend my remaining hours outside the office with them.
it’s like they overcompensate with these people engagement cause they know a lot of people at work aren’t happy anymore. it’s like “hey let me be your friend. let me take you out to dinners, and show you a good time, so you don’t quit your job cause we still need you”
Imma look at the brightside and enjoy it while I can.
5. december weather goes great with cigarettes
6. I went out with someone.
it’s been a while since I spent some time with another person (what I meant here is that a person outside my circle of friends) I dont really want to call it a date, its um…more of a platonic friend thing (but then again, thats what I always say)
and I like that with her, it seems easy. because lately I am just so sick and tired of going out with girls, I just….its so exhausting sometimes, you know? but when I was with her, there’s that feeling you get when you know someone for a long time, and it’s comfortable, and she sees you, and understands you the exact way you’ve always wanted someone to see you and understand you. it was nice.
7. My cousin came home from Tennessee after 4 years of staying there and the first thing she asked me to do upon arrival, is to eat at Jollibee (: I find it too funny. I took her to see all the things she missed out on, and went to the fort to get drinks and catch up.
8-9. Saturdate with friends
had dinner at Yabu, went looking for a shop where I can buy a GoPro camera because I am srsly lusting over getting one before our Baler trip next year.
watched the disney movie Frozen. I liked it so much. these damn disney movies. putting. twigs. in. my. eyes. *sniff* *wipes tears* definitely not one of your typical knight in shining armor, save the princess love story. I give it a 9. I enjoyed it so much I swear its worth watching. You are never too old for a disney movie.
Nuvali/Tagaytay Impromptu Trip
My friend Allaine decided we should have an adventure/activity day to celebrate her birthday so we drove to Nuvali to do some fun stuff.
I prepared a roadtrip playlist for our adventure and it only consist of Fall Out Boy, and Panic At The Disco songs. (These bands are the foundation of our friendship) and we spent the whole trip singing in unison, making music videos in the car, and talking about pokemon.
The annoying thing about Nuvali, is that most of the activities in their advertisement is a LIE! its all conceptual! everything isn’t done yet! I bet the blogs never told you that. Only the Football field and Wakepark is done, can’t confirm the Bird Sanctuary though because we never actually went there cause you need to follow a bike trail to get there and we were too tired from playing football to continue.
If you plan on going to Nuvali, its probably best to do so after 5 years time when all the facilities are finally completed. There are some promising activities being advertised (Paintball, Airsoft etc) but the truth is, none of them are built yet, it was disappointing. We wanted to try the RC planes, but it turns out you have to get reservations first.
Oh and regarding the bike rental, you’re only allowed to ride the bikes around the lake. it’s best to bring your own bike if you really wanna do some serious biking trails.
Now that I’m done complaining, I honestly had a lot of fun on this trip. We tried the 15 minute boat ride in the man-made lake, fed some fishes, and then my friends went biking and I rode my skateboard and there was a point where I got too tired to kick push uphill, and I just latched on to my friend’s bike while he paddled and I hang on for dear life on my skateboard. we call it living on the edge. the guard even asked me if I had a waiver and my friend just shouted back that I have life insurance. haha. buying my cruiserboard before this trip was so worth it.
Then after that, we went to the wakepark but it was too intimidating to try. oh well. maybe someday. We played football instead. The football field in Nuvali is ace!! its so epic, they have around 20 (?) half fields and 1 full football field (it might have been more, I didn’t really count). my friends are hardcore football fans, Rolf and Allaine (football fan couple) actually attended football classes, so they enjoyed practicing their skills and teaching us a trick or two. football is pretty fun, but Imma stick to my skateboarding.
When we were all out of activities to do, we impulsively decided to go to Tagaytay to ride the Sky Eye. its supposedly the highest Ferris Wheel in the Philippines. Still nothing compared to Singapore Flyer but yeah, view was spectacular. I’ve always wanted to try it, now I can cross it off on my bucket list. it’s so funny that we just went to Tagaytay unplanned and we didn’t bring jackets and it was chilly there, and we got so cold we just wrapped ourselves in the picnic blanket we brought. (people stared, we didnt care)
And that concludes our day. I love hanging out with these people. they are the only ones who can convince me to do sports and outdoor activities. I call it true friendship.
I need to stop buying things out of impulse.
I bought a new cruiser board a day before our trip to Nuvali. I was really itching to skate there because there are designated roads for bikers, runners and the likes but my 4 year old skateboard is a wreck, the trucks are all loose which causes wheel bite, Im too lazy to replace the trucks myself as I have never done so before. haha. just buy a new board. problem solved. it was about time I upgraded, anyway.
but i’ll probably buy new trucks for my old board and have it fixed sometime soon so I can let my friends borrow and teach them how to skate.
anyway, I bought a Stereo Vinyl Cruiser board. The deck is made out of wood, not plastic like the common cruiserboards you see. it’s pretty sweet. unlike the Penny brand, the Stereo is an actual skate brand which makes it better (?) well thats what the skater dude told me at the shop. Wooden boards are a lot sturdier than the plastic ones cause it will last a lot longer. the plastic boards tend to bend after a while. Also the wooden ones are a lot safer to skate in as the plastic ones are kinda bouncy, and they don’t come in with a grip tape so you have a lot more chance of falling of the board. It also came with some stickers and a Stereo brand sunglasses. (I loled at this)
I also learned that cruiserboards aren’t advisable for beginners as it has less room for your feet and it accelerates a lot quickly than the concave type of board (the normal skateboard type) I never knew that before. just thought people should know if they’re planning to learn how to skate and wanting to start out with this type of board. Skater guy said you should at least have the basics down to ride smoothly on a cruiser. just thought you should know, but who cares, just live on the edge. haha jk
My board is so pretty I am so in love with it. specially the mint green wheels. I also bought a helmet, cause the skate dude said Imma look cooler with a helmet (lol) but no really, I just wanna skate safe. You’d be a more confident practicing tricks if you got safety gear on.
Bought it at longboards manila shop at The Collective, Makati city. Paul, the gnarly skate dude guy hook me up. they’re friendly and helpful and even added me as a friend on facebook. lol. if you’re looking for a new hobby or into skateboarding and extreme stuff, you should defo check out the shop, you might even meet new friends. If you aren’t sure of what you want, they’re very accommodating and will help you choose the right board for your needs, they even taught me some great skateboarding tips.
Being with her that night felt like the first day of summer vacation.
A drunk voice inside me said
"Take a chance.
This is it,
You’ll never get this moment back
If you missed it.”
"She’s here with you now.
Don’t think about
And its a shame I cant even remember most of it.
I remember stroking her hair,
Kissing her neck,
Holding her against the wall.
Tasting her breath on mine.
Did she really want this or did my wanting her so badly pushed her into letting me?
How did we even get here?
Where is this going?
Would she remember this tomorrow?
One kiss left me with so many questions.
Nights like this
Today’s adventure :) @amelqv @babyeney @rolfxo

And now, let us pretend I don’t want this and I don’t want anything to do with you since that is what I am good at.
1. Fancy Team Dinner at Circles Event Cafe, Shang Ri-La Makati Hotel.
It was an international eat all you can buffet, completely sponsored by the company I work for. it’s the things like these that still makes my miserable job slightly tolerable. They make us so fucking miserable then try to make it up to us the best way they can, but unfortunately I refuse to be bought over, I am however, going to enjoy this dinner as it was already paid for. lol
I was happy for the chance to hang out with my colleagues outside the office, there are some amazing people at work that I really want to be friends with but we never get to talk much about non-work related stuff and I was grateful for the opportunity to spend time and get to know the people I work with.
right when I was starting to have a good time, suddenly there was a client call, and everybody from my team left the table and rushed back to the office (except me cause I made sure I finished all my work before I went there) well. that pretty much sums up my job for you, it’s more demanding than any girl I have ever dated tbh.
btw the dessert buffet was to die for. I literally slipped into a food coma.
2. Shopping for Typhoon Haiyan donations. Instead of a kris kringle for christmas this year, everyone decided to just gather up some money and buy things to donate to the Typhoon survivors. I was more than happy to contribute and help shop for food.
3. Spontaneous Birthday lunch treat by a colleage celebrating her birthday at TGIF. I cant believe we went from our office at Mckinley Hill to Fort High Street just to have lunch. when we got there it was such a struggle to go back to the office, I didnt wanna go back I just wanna stroll around and go home.
4. Bloom Arts Festival. yay.
I went there by myself and hung out with some of my artsy friends that I have met at various art events.
I was supposed to have dinner with someone I used to like before going there (keyword: used to) but then circumstances got in the way, and by that I meant, none of my Team leads showed up and I was a one-man Team, and there was a fucking priority 1 issue and I had to do a report I didn’t know how to do, and I got held up at the office unexpectedly and yeah you get the picture.
but it’s fine really. tbh I wasn’t really that excited to see her. The universe just probably saved me with a good reason not to push through with our plans, and I’m not complaining. I shall elaborate on another blog post.
5. I saw a copy of Girl, Interrupted in Bookay Ukay’s stall at Bloom Arts festival and immediately bought it. I know, I know, I have 50 unread books. but how could I leave that there, tell me?! I was even surprised that no one has bought that thing before I did.
I now have a book with Winona Ryder’s face on it. My life goal is complete.
6. London Tea and London Chocolates from a colleague who recently came back from London. what I love about my colleagues is that wherever they go, they always make sure to bring back something for you, it’s really sweet. they take the time to get something for everybody!
7. My The Little Prince watch arrived!
I shall treasure this always and probably only wear it on special occasions as it is just so beautiful I love it so much. This is my favorite scene and quote in the entire book and I’m so happy I get to wear it and be reminded of how it felt like to read that book for the first time.
I have been having far better days, that’s for sure.
